Helen Price and Harley Warner are Wed

Saturday, September 22, 1923

Helen Price and Harley Warner, my paternal grandparents, were married, on Saturday, September 22, 1923, at her home on Glen Manor Drive in Toronto.

Here is how the Toronto Star described it in the following Monday’s edition.

WARNER–PRICE

At the home of Mr. Joseph Price, 48 Glen Manor drive,* the marriage took place of Helen Elizabeth,** second daughter of Mr. Joseph Price and the late Mrs. Price, to Mr. Harold H. Warner, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Warner, of Toronto. Rev. J. A. Cranston officiated.

The ceremony took place in the living-room, which was decorated with gladioli and mauve and white asters.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of charmeuse satin and chantilly lace with court train, veil of tulle and orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of Ophelia roses and lily of the valley.

Miss Frances Price, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. She wore a frock of honey-dew crepe de chine with black lace and black velvet hat and carried Ophelia roses.

Betty Lowden niece of the bride, looked dainty in a frock of orchid georgette and carried a basket of roses. Mr. Arthur Rook acted as best man.

After the reception Mr. and Mrs. Warner left for Muskoka, the bride traveling in a cocoa brown duvetyn coat and brown velvet hat.

On their return they will reside at Duart Park road.

* The houses on Glen Manor would be renumbered a few years later when the street was extended south of Queen Street. Joe Price’s house at number 48 became instead number 242, which it is today.

** Helen hated her middle name, Fredrica. All her life, she told people it was Elizabeth.
